About us

When I left Sicily for Milan, I didn't have the money for rent, but I left anyway. All I had was my admission to the Politecnico, and nothing else.

For three months I looked for a room. Every single day. Prices were out of reach and agencies cost even more. What was left were run-down attics, ten-square-metre studios, and outright scams.

In the end I made it, thanks to a note pinned on a noticeboard at the Politecnico. I met the landlord, negotiated over the flaws and, after long talks, got a decent room at a fair price.

It shouldn't work like this. Nobody should hit a crisis just to find a place to sleep while trying to build a future.

That's where UnTetto comes from. It doesn't solve the problem of prices in Milan: that's a political and economic knot bigger than any platform. But it can take most of the struggle out of the search.

If you're looking for a home, I really hope this place saves you the effort and the time it cost me. I built it alone, in the evenings after work, at the desk of that same room I rented years before.
